Heath Johnson is serving his first term as Councillor-at-Large after being elected in 2021. He believes in the importance of giving back to his community and wants to help the Town of Riverview continue to grow.
Heath oversees the Business and Information Technology faculties at Oulton College. Before settling in Riverview, he travelled around the world providing support to struggling businesses on four continents. He has also assisted hundreds of local youth start a business, with the goal of growing the area economy.
A dedicated volunteer, Heath has been involved with Scouts Canada for 25 years, teaching children leadership, teamwork, and a healthy respect for the environment. He currently sits on Scouts Canada’s national Board of Governors, as well as the Board of Directors of Orienteering New Brunswick. In recognition of his leadership and community service, he received the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award in 2005 and was named one of Greater Moncton’s “Top 20 under 40” in 2020.
Heath is excited to promote Riverview’s wealth of recreational options and to help improve residents’ quality of life through continuing investments in recreational infrastructure, including expansion of the local trail network. He is also keen to ensure Riverview is a competitive, desirable place for entrepreneurs to start new businesses.
Among his personal interests, Heath enjoys camping, hiking, and travelling with his wife. He takes every opportunity to getting outdoors in Riverview, whether it’s roasting marshmallows on a Dobson Trail fire pit, taking his dog for a walk in Mill Creek Nature Park or enjoying the holiday lights along the Riverfront Trail.
