Regular Council Meeting – January 13, 2025 

ADOPTION OF THE MINUTES 

  • Public Hearing – December 9, 2024

CORRESPONDENCE 

  • Concerns from residents related to By-Law 300-7-18 Rezoning Stonehouse & Danbury. The additional correspondence was taken as information in opposition to the rezoning of this area as the deadline to submit objections to the public hearing held on December 9, 2024 had passed. 
  •  The president of MoeMar Homes submitted a letter to Council addressing concerns raised from residents in the subdivision being considered for rezoning (By-Law 300-7-18 Stonehouse & Danbury). In his correspondence, he expressed his goal of offering a mixture of affordable homes that will see families grow and develop through generations. This letter was also taken as information. 

PETITIONS, PRESENTATION, & DELEGATION 

  • Presentation by David Forsey of Arcadis Professional Services on the Riverview Transit Review. The presentation outlined the recommendations from the Transit Review Report, including enhancing bus stops, purchasing additional buses, route changes, and on-demand service. The 2025 budget included these expense considerations.  Council passed the motion that Riverview Town Council accept the report and proceed with the recommendations as presented by David Forsey of Arcadis Professional Services on January 13, 2025. 

BY-LAWS 

  • Council passed the second reading, by section only, and third reading, by title only to By-Law 300-7-18, A By-Law to amend the Town of Riverview Zoning By-Law, to allow the construction of 36 semi-detached dwellings and 11 single detached dwellings. This is an overall increase of 37 units over the existing subdivision plan. Motion was carried 6-1.  

NEW BUSINESS 

  • Council passed a motion confirming that the Town of Riverview meets all the requirements of the Canada Active Transportation Fund Agreement and authorizing the Town Clerk to execute the agreement. This is an agreement for federal funding for sidewalks on Sussex Ave. 
  • Council moved that Riverview Town Council award Request for Proposal #28-20 for the supply and delivery of one (1) New Custom Cab Aerial Apparatus (Fire Truck) to Techno Feu Inc. for $3,177,096.24 + HST. 
  • Council moved that Riverview Town Council move forward with the Alternative Procurement Approval purchasing options to award Tender 25-73, for the purchase of a single axle plow truck to the listed providers as stated in the alternative procurement package. 
  • Council moved that Riverview Town Council move forward with the Alternative Procurement Approval purchasing options to award Tender 25-75 for the purchase of a new 2025 Sidewalk Tractor to SNT Solutions through Canoe Procurement contract #080818-EPK in the amount of $202,427.00 + HST. 

COUNCIL STATEMENTS & INQUIRIES 

  • Councillor Cassista received information from the Union of Municipalities of New Brunswick on property tax assessments that she circulated, which is available on umnb.ca.  
  • Director Ouellet responded to an inquiry about a possible repair, indicating that Town staff can revisit any affected properties to clean up where their property was affected by municipal work.
