Job Summary:
The Town of Riverview is currently accepting applications for the position of Project Coordinator.
This role supports the Supervisor of Municipal Facilities & Assets by managing energy efficiency projects, facility upgrades, and climate resilience initiatives in alignment with the Town’s Capital Plan and the Corporate & Community Energy and Emissions Plan (CCEEP). This role ensures asset maintenance, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities include organizing energy efficiency initiatives to optimize building performance and reduce energy consumption. The coordinator oversees HVAC operations, including maintenance, asset tracking, and equipment procurement, while monitoring system performance.
Additionally, the coordinator manages contracts with BAS providers and HVAC contractors, conducts audits, oversees the installation of energy-saving technologies, and manages renewable energy projects. They prepare grant applications for energy initiatives, analyze energy consumption data, and report on project progress. Collaboration with various stakeholders is essential, along with staying updated on energy efficiency technologies and regulations to promote sustainability efforts.
The position reports to the Supervisor of Municipal Facilities & Assets.
Requirements:
Successful completion of a post-secondary program in Project Management, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
Minimum three (3) years’ experience in project management, energy efficiency, or facility management.
Experience in inventory management and energy monitoring systems.
Certification or training in energy efficiency, asset management, or sustainability is considered an asset.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.
Familiarity with provincial and federal regulations related to asset management and sustainability.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to interpret and implement Town policies and procedures.
Ability to interpret and implement the NB Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
Ability to read and interpret buildings drawings
Ability to present proposals and recommendations clearly and logically in public meetings.
Knowledge of the functions, services, and funding sources of a municipal government.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound, expert independent judgment.
Experience conducting Public Procurement processes is considered an asset.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license
Criminal Record Check to meet Town standards.
Responsibilities:
1- Manage HVAC, Building Automation Systems and renewable energy operations:
Managing HVAC asset inventory and replacement schedules.
Responsible for the procurement of supplies, parts and equipment as needed.
Maintain accurate records of buildings, operating systems, maintenance work (preventative and reactive), etc.
Manage contracts with HVAC, BAS, and renewable energy providers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specification.
Oversee repair work and maintenance of HVAC equipment.
Coordinate and manage preventative and emergency repairs and maintenance required for Town facilities.
Sets budgeting priorities on HVAC repairs and/or replacement of HVAC equipment.
Optimize building efficiency through BAS programming and scheduling.
Identify anomalies and monitor trends in energy consumption using Building Automation Systems
2- Long Range Planning of Town’s Energy and Facility Management initiatives:
- Lead, support and oversee the development and implementation of the Town’s Corporate & Community Energy and Emissions Plan.
Provide comprehensive technical support while preparing feasibility studies and business cases to identify opportunities for enhanced energy efficiency. Proactively propose and advocate for operational improvements through a framework of continuous enhancement, exploring innovative technologies, tools, and measures to optimize energy efficiency.
Develop a comprehensive energy performance portfolio for all town-owned facilities through a centralized system.
Supply the Asset Management Committee with comprehensive data and thorough analysis to improve long-term infrastructure planning. This involves performing detailed asset condition assessments and pinpointing critical maintenance and repair needs.
Involved in all aspects of building planning for all new construction, renovations, upgrades of Town HVAC equipment and energy related initiatives.
Lead the assessment of climate risks affecting the Town’s facilities and infrastructure, developing mitigation strategies aligned with the Town’s GHG reduction goals.
Develop and implement risk management strategies for energy and facility systems.
3- Project Management:
Lead and support energy efficiency projects, facility upgrades, and climate resilience initiatives, ensuring they align with the 10-Year Capital Plan and the CCEEP Roadmap.
Overseeing the installation and commissioning of energy-saving equipment.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder coordination.
Act as a key resource in building redundancy within the department, ensuring continuity in the absence of the Supervisor of Municipal Facilities & Assets.
Identify funding opportunities, apply for grants, and manage the financial aspects of energy and facility projects.
Coordinate with other Town departments, such as Finance & IT and Public Works & Engineering, to ensure alignment with broader operational goals.
Provide training and guidance to the Town’s facilities team on energy-saving techniques, new building systems, and climate adaptation strategies.
Support public and corporate engagement efforts related to energy conservation, sustainability projects, and facility improvements.
Track energy consumption and emissions reductions across Town facilities and report on progress towards GHG reduction targets.
Read and interpret building drawings and technical and functional characteristics of equipment.
Prepare pertinent safety records, and reports, ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Working Conditions:
Incumbent may be required Combination of office work and on-site project oversight.
May involve working non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as projects require.
Work environments may include exposure to varying weather conditions and construction-related hazards.
Manual handling of objects up to 25kg may be required occasionally.
