Riverview Kicks Off Community Cleanup Month
To celebrate environmental stewardship and neighborhood pride, the Town of Riverview will host its annual Community Cleanup Month from April 24th until May 24th.
“Participating in our Community Cleanup is a great way to get involved and take ownership of your community, while helping out the environment,” said Alicia Clarkson, the Town of Riverview’s Community Engagement Worker for Sustainability.
Beginning April 24th, the Town will be offering a limited supply of bags and gloves at its Parks and Recreation office, 55 Biggs Drive. Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
In addition to picking up supplies and selecting a location to clean up, Riverview businesses, groups, organizations, and residents will be entered for a chance to win a ‘green’ prize.
At the end of Community Cleanup Month, all participants will be invited to a zero-waste Garden Party & BBQ at the Coverdale Community Garden, sponsored by D.R. Docusafe.
“This event is our way of thanking the participants for their work in making Riverview as clean, green, and beautiful as possible. The event will also include the drawing of names for local, environmentally friendly prizes, and displays by local environmental initiatives,” explained Alicia.
The Town of Riverview would like to thank its partners Eco360 and Steele Sanitation for donating the gloves and bags for this initiative.
