Get Ready for Snow Much Fun - 2024 Riverview Winter Carnival Has Something for Everyone

Riverview Winter Carnival to kick off Feb. 2, 2024 


RIVERVIEW (N.B.) –  A highlight of Maritime winters since 1975, the 49th Riverview Winter Carnival embraces ice and snow over 10 days of outdoor adventures, inclusive winter wellness activities and old-fashioned play. Be part of the coolest celebration around, Feb. 2-11, 2024.

With a mix of 40 indoor and outdoor activities hosted by the Town of Riverview and community partners, festivalgoers will find there’s something for everyone!

Winter Carnival Ignite kicks off festivities on Feb. 2 (Storm date, Feb. 3)

Celebrations Ignite with fireworks at Winter Wonderland Park (Quinn Court) on Friday, Feb. 2. Bundle up for hot chocolate (remember to Bring Your Own Mug - BYOM) and enjoy maple candy on the snow ($3) from 6:30- 7:30 p.m. Weather permitting, there will also be skating and sledge skating on the outdoor oval – remember to bring your helmet! Fireworks start at 7 p.m. Sliding is not permitted on Friday due to the fireworks display set-up. Special thanks to our Ignite event and activity sponsors D.R. Snow Sculpture Challenge – February 2-11

Unleash your creativity with the Snow Sculpture Challenge - on for the duration of Winter Carnival this year! Get outside and create your frozen masterpiece in your front yard, or gather friends in a neighbourhood park to sculpt yoru creation. Don't forget to take a photo to enter! Prizes include a 2-night stay in a heated yurt (no pets) at Fundy National Park (March 1-3, 2024) with a national park entry pass and gas card, Winter Carnival swag, and outdoor recreation prizes! Thanks are extended to our Snow Sculpture Challenge sponsor Aidex Pest Management.

  • Four-part guided snowshoe adventure series on various trails in Riverview. All adventures are suitable for beginners, served up with a bit of challenge to build confidence. 
  • Winter geocaching challenge with special Winter Carnival geocoin inspired by last year's fireworks at Winter Wonderland Park.
  • Snowshoe Artists Matt Robinson and Sheldon Benoit are on standby for the right conditions to create a sustainable art piece in Mill Creek Nature Park.
  • Join the Snowshoe Poker Ramble at Farmer Brown's Greenhouse with prizes and treats.

  • Laugh along with the crowd at two HUBCAP Comedy Festival shows at Holy Whale Beer Hall. 
  • Dance the night away at the Coverdale Centre for BGC Riverview’s Pre-teen (9-12) dance.

  • Bundle up at the Winter Campfire Youth Social for good company, hot chocolate, and snacks. 
  • Attend the Lavender Rose Winter Gala, a formal for 2SLGBTQ+ youth and allies (ages 16-18) 
  • Tap your feet at the Old-Fashioned Indoor Campfire Sing-Along at Parkland Riverview. 
  • Jive to the musical stylings of the Gallant Family Band at Retro Riverview's Valentine's Dance.

Nourish

  • Fill your belly with pancake breakfasts, chicken luncheon, and soup and chowder night.

  • The Maritimes’ premiere winter skateboard contest - The Frozen Open - features the top skateboarders in Atlantic Canada throwing down tricks for cash prizes.

  • Learn to play North America's fastest growing sport with one of two Beginner Pickleball Training Clinics.
  • Lace up your skates for the Snowflake Skate at the Byron Dobson Memorial Arena or the NEW Glow in the Dark Skate at Winter Wonderland Park.
  • Make a splash with the free Pool Party or register for a groovy Polar Night Aquafit at the Pat Crossman Memorial Aquatic Centre.
  • Giant card party at Parkland Riverview and Crib Tournament at the Lions Club
  • Enjoy winter activities and tasty treats at Farmer Brown's Family Fun Day

Connect

  • Bring your stuffie for a Stuffie Sleepover and Storytime at the Riverview Public Library.
  • Take part in a workshop - create a one-of-a-kind mosaic with local pottery artist, Tim Isaac, or try your hand at the Hop to It Rug Hooking Workshop.
  • Join the Cookout at the Lookout (Mill Creek Nature Park) with the Moncton BPSA scouts.
  • Sing along at the Mill Creek Bonfire and Tunes with the Riverview Scouts and Girl Guides.
