Flexible Winter Parking Returns in Riverview

(RIVERVIEW, N.B.) – Last year’s winter parking pilot program is returning to Riverview this winter. From December 1 to March 31, overnight winter parking (12 a.m. to 7 a.m.) will be permitted on most Town streets, except when snow-clearing and ice removal operations are expected or taking place.

When a parking ban is in effect, an alert will be issued by 6 p.m. on the Riverview Alerts Dashboard, riverviewalerts.ca. Residents can subscribe to receive email or SMS (text message) notifications when an alert is issued or check the dashboard directly before parking for the night. Vehicles parked on the street when restrictions are in place risk being ticketed and/or towed.

“Last year’s pilot program was well-received by residents, and Council is happy to have it return this year. Having the flexibility to park on the street overnight in the winter months when our teams are not out clearing or salting allows residents the convenience they need while ensuring our streets remain safe and accessible,” says Mayor Andrew J. LeBlanc.

The Town’s alerts dashboard is a system that allows the ability to communicate important information where residents are most likely to receive it. In addition to parking restriction information, residents can subscribe for notifications related to emergency alerts. For details on how to subscribe for notifications visit the Town’s website

The Town would like to remind residents that in the event of a storm they are responsible for removing all road obstructions, including hockey nets, basketball nets, and anything that may interfere with snow clearing operations. A municipal by-law also prohibits residents from pushing snow back onto the road while clearing driveways and sidewalks.

Sign up today to receive email and/or text notifications when winter parking restrictions are in effect. Be sure to confirm your information and set your preferences to avoid any disruption in receiving alerts.
