Crowning Glory: Do or Dye Hair Salon Celebrates over a Decade in Riverview
Shelley McAnespy’s passion for hairdressing began in childhood, sparked by her mother, who at the time was a barber. From an early age, Shelley absorbed the basics of cutting and styling, and by the time she finished high school, she was determined to turn her love for hair into a profession. After attending technical school, she opened her first salon in Moncton and spent 15 years teaching hair colouring classes, sharing her expertise, and inspiring others in the craft.
In 2018, Shelley purchased Do or Dye Hair Salon on Trites Road in Riverview. The business attracted an array of talent, including local stylist Tracey McCabe, who shares Shelley’s passion for hairstyling and has now been in the industry for over 20 years. After working with Shelley for several years, Tracey joined her as a business partner in 2024.
Together, Shelley and Tracey have expanded their business by building a talented team of stylists, all with 20 to 35 years of experience. Their team’s diverse expertise and commitment to client satisfaction make the salon stand out.
"We believe that giving yourself great hair is a form of self-care," says Tracey. Shelley adds, "Our motto is, ‘We help straighten your crown.’”
The Do or Dye team stays inspired by continuously engaging with the latest trends, techniques, and styles shared online. Social media plays a key role in keeping them motivated and connected with industry standards, helping them bring fresh ideas to clients and maintain a creative edge.
“We all love to watch videos, browse photos, and follow award shows. There’s so much we can learn online now,” says Tracey. “I am especially proud to have our business rooted in my hometown. Riverview has that small-town feel and is a wonderful place to grow.”
As they celebrate over a decade in Riverview, Do or Dye Hair Salon is thrilled to welcome customers to their new, larger location at 540 Pinewood Road. Join them for their grand opening on Monday, November 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will feature door prizes (including product swag, hair services, and more), refreshments, and 15% off all retail purchases. Additionally, 10% of all retail sales will go toward supporting a local family in need this Christmas. For more information and updates, visit their Facebook page.
